Technical Director | Neil Orr
Neil Orr comes to Magic with a vast playing history having played 175 games for West Ham United & 170 games for Hibernian Football Club in Scotland.
Neil is an accredited FFA/AFC B License coach who has worked within the Northern NSW NPL before as well as the Scottish FA where he worked as Youth Development Manager from 2003-2012. He will be a great acquisition to our club & we cannot wait to work with him to develop our future Super Magicians and provide that clear pathway to NPL football from Broadmeadow Magic Youth Football Club.
Neil Orr will oversee our 9-12 year old academy teams by putting in place a program that runs for 18 weeks of the football season.
Neil will work in conjunction with our other club coach, Neil Owens who has over 20 years experience in the industry to deliver a program for our teams aged 13 - 16 years with the aim of developing them for our senior club who compete in the PS4 NPL which creates that pathway from community football to elite fooball seamlessly.
Neil Orr this year has introduced a school holiday clinic to cater for all levels of players aged 5 - 12 years od age that is based around hidden learning and fun games which is perfect for players within that age bracket.
All players will receive their own Magic holiday clinic training shirt and a ball.
A brand new program that the club rolled out in summer 2016 was a high performance squad for our 12-15 year old players under the guidance of Neil Owens.
This squad of 15 was selected by Neil Owens and the coaching staff at the club.
The squad trained every Wednesday afternoon during term four which was designed to lift the intensity to ready our players for potential NPL selections.
Neil Orr will be hosting his own SuperClinic which is targeted at players aged 13 - 16 aiming to develop their skills to step up into the National Premier Leagues in seasons to come.
This clinic will be focused around the four moments in football.
- Ball Possession (BP)
- Ball Possession Opposition (BPO)
- BP>BPO Transitional Moment
- BPO>BP Transitional Moment
This clinic will also act as a talent identification for Broadmeadow Magic NPL.
Our club's 10-12 year old academy teams play in the Newcastle Football NET Program which is a new program introduced by Newcastle Football to expose a larger number of young footballers to higher levels of coaching.
The NET Program is the highest level of football for those age groups in the Newcastle Football Zone.
